Dr. Christopher L. Schwilk is department chair and associate professor of educational leadership and special education at Shippensburg University. He holds a B.S. degree in secondary social studies education from Miami University (OH), a masters of divinity (M.Div.) degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, a M.S. degree from Bloomsburg University in education of the deaf and hard of hearing, and a Ph.D in special education from the Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Schwilk taught deaf and hard of hearing students for the Capital Area Intermediate Unit at Susquehanna Middle School from 1996-2001. He also taught deaf students in as a long-term substitute during the fall 1995 school year for the Susquehanna Intermediate Unit at Danville Elementary School. Dr. Schwilk is the founder and director of Specialized Learning Services inHershey, PA. In this role he has tutored numerous students with various learning disabilities and has provided direct instruction and consultation services to school districts in central Pennsylvania. Currently, his research interests are in the area of providing explicit instruction and accommodations to high school and post-secondary students with learning disabilities.
