UG commencement weather update
Dec. 12: 3 p.m.
Weather forecasters are predicting a snowstorm for the area Saturday. We have been and will continue to monitor the weather as it relates to the undergraduate commencement ceremony.
At this time, the undergraduate ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. as scheduled. Should that change, we will share that information as early as possible on the university’s website, by e-mail, on Hotline (717-477-1200) and in other mediums.
Every preparation and effort will be made to have the program on schedule Saturday. A change will be made only in the worst possible circumstances, as happened in December 2009 when several major interstates were closed and snow emergencies were declared throughout the region due to the large amount of snow that fell in a very short period of time.
Individuals who are traveling any distance may want to consider staying in the region overnight and all guests are encouraged to leave additional travel time in the morning. For those who are unable to attend, the ceremony will be streamed live. The link to that broadcast is available on the university’s main webpage and then by clicking on commencement ceremonies in the center column.
We will issue updates as needed.
