All positions requires Act 34 and Act 151 Child Abuse and FBI Clearances, a valid Pa Driver's License as well as proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements for all positions

 

  • Physically able to move quickly and/or position body appropriately in order to respond to children who are very active and may need restraint or redirection in order to ensure their safety or the safety of others in the environment.
  • Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs.

The Shippensburg University Head Start & Pre-K Counts Program

is accepting resumes/applications for the following positions:

 

Teacher

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two years of professional preschool (ages 3-5) teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development and the ability to apply early childhood development theory in daily activities, and adapt to the individual needs of children.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis situation
  • Intermediate to advanced computer, internet and email skills.
  • Willing to obtain infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License

  • Head Start: Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE.
  • Pre-K Counts: Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education with a teaching certification in early childhood education.

Home Visitor

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Educational requirements: High School Diploma; Minimum of an Associates Degree (AA) in Early Childhood   Education or Home Visitor Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) obtained within one year of hire. Preference given to those with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, B.S. in Social Work, or B.S. in Psychology with goal to obtain CDA.
  • Prefer minimum of two years experience in family social service settings that includes experience and knowledge of prenatal care, infants/toddlers development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.
  • Must have flexible schedule to accommodate family needs, may include some evening or weekend hours.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer, internet and e-mail skills.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain State Police and Child Abuse check prior to the first day of employment and apply for FBI Clearances
  • Within 90 days of employment a Staff Health Assessment must be submitted and updated every three years.
  • Immediately upon hire, a TB test must be completed.

Para-educator/Aide

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional preschool (ages 3-5) experience preferred.
  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • A basic understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to obtain infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass health screening.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

 

 

Classrooms located at elementary schools in the Carlisle, Shippensburg and Newville Areas.
