Advising & Scheduling Resources
Every student in the History/Philosophy Department is assigned an academic advisor who is available to assist with scheduling and career questions. Undergraduate students are required to meet with their advisor a minimum of once per semester to review their academic process. Graduate students may meet with their advisor as needed. Additionally, all students in the B.S.Ed. program are assigned an advisor to assist them with negotiating the state's teacher certification requirements. These advisors are assigned based on the student's last name. Student with last names ending in letters A-M has Dr. Betty Dessants (email@example.com) as their B.S.Ed. advisor. Students with last names from N-Z are assigned to Dr. Robert Shaffer (firstname.lastname@example.org). Because Dr. Shaffer is on leave for Spring 2016, all students with questions about teacher certification should contact Dr. Dessants for advisement.
Dr. Burg serves as the advisor to students in the undergraduate public history concentration.
Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor regularly for advice and assistance. The department chair, Dr. Steven Burg (email@example.com) is also available to assist students with academic or career-related questions.
