Academic Outreach & Innovation
Academic Outreach and Innovation (AOI) integrates and coordinates the activities of the Office of Professional, Continuing, and Distance Education, the Institute for Public Service and Office of Sponsored Programs, the Center for Faculty Excellence in Scholarship and Teaching (Grants Administration and Campus Support), the University Research and Scholarship Program and new academic innovation initiatives. This unit is led by Dr. Christina Sax, Associate Provost and Dean of Academic Outreach and Innovation.
According to Dr. Barbara Lyman, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, “The integration of these areas will help to ensure that the division of Academic Affairs remains responsive to the changing demographics and educational needs of students and the workforce, sustains its commitment to quality and creativity in teaching, learning, and research, and maximizes the use of existing resources while also seeking to acquire new sources of external funding. While the Academic Master Plan is still in progress, many promising suggestions have already come to light. This alignment will serve to support as appropriate various priorities from the final recommendations of the Academic Master Plan, and the new PASSHE performance funding goals.”
