Housing Policies and Agreements

Here you'll find the housing agreements you’ll need to sign prior to living on campus, as well as Ship’s policies for housing.

Incoming students will sign the housing agreement and pay the $200 housing deposit within the Admissions Application. It is part of the checklist seen after acceptance.

The returning student housing agreement is located within myShip under My Housing. Your agreement will be listed at the top of the portal under agreements. If you do not see the agreement, contact the Housing Office at (717) 477-1500.

Graduate students can request an agreement by calling or e-mailing housing@ship.edu in order to have their agreement set up. There is a $200 deposit required with online agreements.

Release from Housing Agreements

Students requesting to be released from the housing agreement after the cancellation deadlines must submit a “Request to be Released from Housing” form on the Housing and Residence Life forms website. The cancellation deadline for the fall semester is June 1. The cancellation deadline for new students in the spring semester is December 1. The $200 deposit is a non-refundable deposit. The requests will be reviewed, and students can expect an e-mail response within 2-3 business days.

If the request is approved, students will be notified via e-mail. The housing agreement and/or assignment will be cancelled. The $200 deposit (if applicable) will be forfeited by the student.

Upon denial, if the student wishes to appeal the decision, the student may send an e-mail to housing@ship.edu to request a further appeal from the Housing and Residence Life Appeals Committee. The appeals committee is comprised of the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Director of Student Conduct, and an undergraduate student representative. The appeals committee will review all appeals on a weekly basis between June 1 and September 1 as needed. This committee will also review appeals between December 1 and February 1 as needed for mid-year requests. The appeals committee will serve as the last option to appeal, and the decision will be final.
