March for Humanity speaker announced
The Honorable Pamela O’Berry is the keynote speaker for the 31th Anniversary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March for Humanity on Feb. 1 at Shippensburg University.
The event begins at 3:30 p.m. in Old Main chapel and is free and open to the public.
O’Berry was born and raised in York and is a 1990 graduate of Shippensburg University and a 1993 graduate of the American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, DC. She served as an assistant public defender and later became a deputy commonwealth’s attorney for Richmond, Va.
She practiced civil litigation and served as legal counsel and consultant to several police departments including the Detroit Police Department and Richmond Police Department. In 2009, O’Berry was elected judge in theChesterfield General District Court, where she adjudicates criminal, civil and traffic cases.
