Shippensburg University hosts WNBA star

Former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw will speak at Shippensburg University as part of Women’s History Month on March 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ceddia Union Building Multi-Purpose Room.

Holdsclaw made her mark as a member of the Championship Women’s Basketball team at the Unviersity of Tennessee with Hall of Fame Coach Pat Summit. She was the number one draft pick in the 1999 WNBA draft and earned the Rookie of the Year award. In 2000, she earned an Olympic Gold Medal with Team USA at the Sydney Olympic Games.

Beyond her athletic career, she has dedicated her life to mental health and wellness activism. She will share her personal struggles with depression and bipolar II disorder and how sought help to manage her own mental health.
