Ship gives back in big ways during Homecoming 2019
Shippensburg University welcomed home alumni during its annual homecoming celebration and it featured several community service projects.
On Friday, October 18, nearly 50 alumni and students volunteered at King’s Kettle Food Pantry. The pantry, a common service-learning partner for Ship students, provides food to families in need in the greater Shippensburg area.
On Saturday, Shippensburg University Army ROTC hosted 174 runners during their annual 5K/10K race. Proceeds from the race are donated to the Bolder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness.
The giving continued with the Homecoming Court. Students selected Shippensburg Produce Outreach (SPO) as this year’s homecoming community program. The court of twelve raised $10,932 and donated 238 service hours to SPO. SPO provides fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and dairy to those in need.
