Teaching and Research Areas
All of my teaching and research is based on the reality that all of today’s business is global. Primary focus is on student development in addition to discipline knowledge, especially with regard to development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, student survival, success, and excellence in achieving individual goals and making the maximum contribution possible to our world community.
Specific areas include all areas of global marketing, particularly: Strategic Development, Branding, Personal Selling, E-Marketing, Buyer Behavior, Research, Emerging Trends, Tourism and Events Planning, and Gaming.
Other Areas: The Environment, Sustainable Living Challenges and Practices, Advising, Collaborative Learning, Innovative Pedagogy, Changing Student Needs, Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, and Negotiations.
My research interests are eclectic and my goal is to work with students from around the world in order to share global perspectives and enhance professional development and mutual understanding for all involved.
Selected recent publications include: Refereed journal articles, proceedings, and presentations in such diverse areas as the Asian-Pacific view of consumer attitudes and perceptions of seals of assurance programs (International Journal of Internet Marketing and Advertising, co-authored with Xia et al), teaching integration of business disciplines to freshman business majors (Journal of College Teaching and Learning, co-authored with Marsh), leveraging country-of-origin effect and global brand image (Journal of International Marketing and Exporting, co-authored with Ahmed et al), and the buying behaviors of Uyghur (Turkish) Muslims in China for Halal products (Academy of Global Business Advancement, co-authored and presented with Ahmed et al, Sintok, Kedah, Malaysia).
Services Unlimited (1975-present): primary focus is on all aspects of marketing in the tourism, events planning, and restaurant industries; branding and positioning; training; and strategic decision-making at key points in business development and growth, particularly decisions regarding new ventures and whether or not to expand.
