Shippensburg University offers 5 public computer labs available to all students, faculty and staff. In addition, there are nearly 40 departmental computer labs that support the many academic programs available on our campus. The Microcomputer Labs provide a quick, easy and convenient way for members of the campus community to access computer and Internet services.
The public labs that are maintained by the Computing Technologies Center include MCT 054, MCT 158, Grove 106/108, Shippen 240 and Lehman Library 112. During the academic year, MCT 054 and MCT 158 are open for use 24-hours a day. Other lab schedules vary, but maintain many hours of availability for the convenience of all our students. Lab schedules may be modified over the summer. Please check the individual lab schedules, as labs are also frequently reserved for classes and therefore may be temporarily closed for public use.
There are also many departmental labs on campus. These labs are scheduled and maintained by their respective departments. Please contact the department responsible for your computer lab for hours and other information.
All campus computer labs are equiped with Microsoft Office 2010, Internet Explorer and other standard software. Many labs may contain other specialized software such as image editing applications, web design software, publication applications, and mapping programs. Please check the individual lab pages for a list of specific software packages available in the labs.
A list of commonly found lab software packages include:
- Internet Explorer
- Microsoft Office 2010
- Microsoft Visual Studio Express
- Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Adobe Dreamweaver
- ... many more!
Most labs are also equiped with printing capabilities. Shippensburg University offers all students a per-semester print quota that supports the requirements of most university classes and programs. Environmentally-friendly printers are installed in most labs with options like duplex (double-sided) printing available. Please see our Lab Printing information page for more details.
Some areas, including the library, offer scanning and photocoping services to students as well.
All public computer labs are staffed during day and evening hours with lab attendants to assist users with any problems or questions they may have. Please see your lab attendant if you have questions about general computer use, software, printing, scanning, or other issues.
