You have undoubtedly heard news about global climate change. Is this the same as global warming? What are the possible impacts in Alabama and the Gulf region? Why is it controversial? How does climate change fit into the Alabama Course of Study? Join us for the weekend and learn more about climate change from researchers, conduct related hands-on activities suitable for your students, and explore data-rich online resources you can use in your classroom. We will explore the concepts of global warming, ocean acidification, sea level rise, models and, of course, hurricanes. You will analyze your own ice core, go by boat to see a data buoy in the Gulf, see for yourself if the range for tropical fishes is expanding, and explore how visual interpretations of data can be misleading.
