The English Department computer lab is conveniently located in Dauphin Humanities Center 002. The lab is open to all students and faculty members and is staffed by free writing tutors, who have been trained to assist students in need of help with their writing assignments.

Writing Lab Schedule

The schedule varies during summer months and semester breaks. The writing lab is often reserved for classes. Check the weekly schedule posted outside the lab for accurate times.

Meet the 2015-2016 English Department Writing Tutors

Kira Miller Tutor Photo 

Kira Miller is a senior undergraduate student at Shippensburg University. She is expected to graduate in December 2015 with a BA in English with a Writing Concentration and a minor in Technical/Professional Communications. During her first and second year at SU, she was an editor for SpawningPool, a campus literary magazine. In Spring 2015, she started a Poetry Club on campus. After graduation, Kira aspires to delve into the advertising world through her passion for graphic design and pursue a Masters in Fine Arts. Someday, she would like to be a poetry professor. 

Brayden Burleigh Tutor Photo Brayden Burleigh is a rising 5th year student at Shippensburg University and is double majoring in English and Math Secondary Education.  He transferred from Virginia Tech after his sophomore year, and he is expected to graduate with both degrees in Spring 2017.  During his collegiate life, he has participated in cross-country and track and field, running anything from the 800m to the 10k.  One of the crowning achievements of his collegiate career was during indoor track 2014 when he won D2 Nationals in the mile.  Aside from athletics, he has been involved with VT's school newspaper, S.A.F.E., F.C.A., and a local writing club known as Agile Writers.   
Benjamin Anwyll Tutor Photo Benjamin Anwyll is a Communications/Journalism major with a minor in Technical/Professional Communications. He has been tutoring since Fall 2014 and is passionate about helping students polish their prose. In his free time, Benjamin enjoys hiking, playing guitar, and writing for the SU's newspaper, The Slate. He thoroughly enjoys his job at the DHC Writing Center and plans to tutor until he graduates in May 2016.

The Student Help Desk, located in MCT054, provides free technical support for personal computers to all students enrolled at Shippensburg University. 

Wireless Printing Options

You may print to a lab printer from your personal computer if you are connected to the campus wireless network. Follow the instructions on the above link to add a lab printer option to your personal computer.  

Recommended Antivirus Protection 

Free Avira and Sophos Antivirus protection for personal computers is available for students and faculty. Visit the Antivirus Installation page and following the links for Windows or Mac users. You may also access several online virus scanner  options to perform maintenance and clean-up.

Microsoft Office Suite

Technology Services offers free subscription to the Microsoft Office Suite to all students. It can be downloaded on PC, Mac, and mobile devices such as the iPad.
