CALL FOR PROPOSALS:
“Texts, Texting, and Technology"
The Pennsylvania English Undergraduate Conference
sponsored by EAPSU
Saturday April 6, 2013
Dauphin Humanities Center (DHC)
Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania
This annual EAPSU conference welcomes undergraduate students from Pennsylvania as well as the surrounding area. Our conference theme celebrates the diversity of ways in which our engagement with texts, communities, and the world have been enhanced as well as complicated by the plethora of technologies by which humans interact with texts and one another. We invite conference proposals for individual papers and three-paper panels. Papers will normally be 5-7 pages long, and when read aloud should run no longer than 10-15 minutes. Student presenters are encouraged to use and develop course papers in light of the conference themes, including texts and technology, their effects—both positively and negatively transformative—on the interpretation of texts, interpretative communities/communication, and the interactions of readers with texts, technology, and other audiences. Submissions may address both academic and creative topics. We welcome papers dealing with all literary genres (short fiction, novels, poetry, drama, creative nonfiction) as well as their presentation through media including the internet, graphic novels, film, and television.
EXTENDED! Proposals are now due by February 15, 2013.
Proposals should be no longer than 200 words and should include complete contact information for the submitter: name, school affiliation, address, phone number, and email address. Submit completed proposals to Dr. Dawn Vernooy at dmvern@ship.edu. Put “EAPSU 2013 Proposal” in the subject line. (Please also put your last name and “EAPSU 2013” in your document title.) Conference questions or concerns (anything other than proposals) should have “EAPSU 2013 Question” or similar wording in the subject line.
