Requesting Archival Materials
Please ask your questions about our institution via email, mail, or phone. If you would like to visit in person, please call of write to make an appointment. Contact Karen Daniel, the Archives & Special Collections Librarian:
All of the materials in Special Collections are listed in the Library Catalog. If the catalog record for an item you want says:
- Location: Special Collections -or-
- Location: Rare Books
please send an email to SpecialCollections@ship.edu with
- Your name
- Location of item (Special Collections or Rare Books)
- Call number
Or email yourself the catalog record and forward it to SpecialCollections@ship.edu with your name. You will get an email response when the item is ready for you to pick up at the Circulation Desk.
If you do not have email, please call 717-477-1516 and leave a message with your name and phone number and the Location, Call number and Title of the item(s). We will call you to let you know when the item is ready for you to pick up at the Circulation Desk.
Requests will usually be filled within 24 hours of receipt between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can use Special Collections Materials and Rare Books for 3 hours, in-library use only.
If you still need the materials, please tell the Circulation staff when you will return. The materials will be kept on hold for you at the Circulation Desk.
