Alumni Admissions Volunteers
We encourage you to volunteer your time to identify and recruit academically talented high school and transfer students to further their education at Shippensburg.
Alumni Admission Representatives
Members of the Alumni Admissions Program assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in recruiting prospective students for Shippensburg University. It is through the "personal touch" offered by our alumni volunteers that often encourages a student to apply to SHIP and accept an offer of admission.
Alumni volunteers serve their local region and participate in selected recruitment activities for that region.
Alumni Admission Representatives participate in local recruitment activities such as college fairs, high school visits, area information sessions, and contacting admitted students. Volunteers are ambassadors for the University who act as local contacts for students, families, and admission counselors. Specific activities may include:
Volunteers in the Alumni Admissions Program are asked each year to participate in a variety of recruitment activities. While volunteer opportunities may vary, it is still important that all members are trained and made aware of yearly updates. The majority of an alumni admissions volunteer's time will be spent attending college fairs.
If you are considering becoming an Alumni Admissions Representative, training is provided through an on-line tutorial. After you complete the tutorial, you may provide your contact information and the names of high schools in your area where you would be willing to help recruit. The on-line tutorial will help you prepare to assist at Open Houses on campus as well as College Fairs at your local high school. Take the tutorial.
There is especially a need for representation in Southern Maryland, Northern New Jersey, Delaware, and Washington D.C. If you are interested in attending college fairs, adopting a high school, presenting a scholarship or attending an Open House, e-mail us!
