About Grants
These programs are automatically packaged for students that apply for aid using the FAFSA form. However, students need to apply early, since these programs are based on need or available funds. The FAO recommends a filing date of March 15th.
PHEAA State Grant
PHEAA State Grants are awarded to needy students who are Pennsylvania residents. Awards vary from $200 to $3,300. At the state universities, the amount of the award may not exceed 80% of tuition costs.The PA State Grant is administered by PHEAA.
Students apply for the PA State Grant simply by completing the FAFSA. PHEAA's deadline for applying to PA State Grant is May 1st of the upcoming academic year. Information from the FAFSA will automatically be released to PHEAA unless the student indicates otherwise on the application. After the initial application is filed, students and parents should respond to the PHEAA Grant Division if additional information is required for the PA State Grant application.

Federal PELL Grant
A Federal Pell Grant is the first grant for which you will be considered. If you qualify for a Federal Pell Grant, you may receive between $400 and $3,750 annually (the federal government may revise the amount available for the Federal Pell Grant each year), depending on your family income, cost of education and enrollment status. You must apply for a Federal Pell Grant using a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All other need-based financial assistance will be added after your Federal Pell Grant has been determined.
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
A limited amount of funds from the FSEOG program are available for students with high financial need. The information provided on the FAFSA form will be used to determine student eligibility. Awards vary from $300 to $1,000 based on financial need and fund availability.
