The Emerging Leaders Institute is an eight-week program in the spring semester designed to introduce leadership topics to a cohort of new leaders. Membership is limited to First Yearand Sophomore students. Topics include leadership styles, effective communication, values & ethics, multicultural leadership, and more! Be apart of thesecond cohort of Emerging Leaders at Shippensburg University!

When is the Emerging Leaders Institute?

Fall or Spring Semester. Will be announced prior to accepting applicants.

Where does Emerging Leaders meet?

Location to be determined each semester.

What are the qualifications?

Membership is limited to First Year/Freshman or Sophomore students. All interested students must complete the attached application in order to be considered for membership in this year's cohort.

When will I be notified if I am accepted?

You will be notified within a week after applications are due.

Do I have to attend all the sessions?

Attendance at all of the sessions is vital to successfully completing the Emerging Leaders Institute. As a result, all members of the institute are expected to attend all sessions.

How will completion of the Emerging Leaders Institute benefit me?

The institute will provide you with training & resources for future leadership positions on campus, network with campus community members, and can enhance your resume. Everyone who successfully completes the institute will be certified as a student leader and be recognized at the Campus Life Awards Program at the end of the spring semester.

Choose the Right Track for You

Track 1: Weekend Retreat-

  • September 30th- October 1st
    Transfer student retreat

  • October 7th- October 8th
    First year student retreat

  • October 21- October 22nd
    All student inclusive retreat

Track 2: Semester Long Program

Have your choice to attend one of three meetings each week for the 8 week program. Very flexible with your schedule with a choice of which meetings work best for you.
