AlcoholEdu and Haven

Shippensburg University has partnered with EverFi whose mission is to help students address critical life skills such as alcohol abuse prevention and sexual assault prevention in higher education institutions across the country. Each year over ½ million students complete these courses.

As part of comprehensive prevention efforts for new students, Shippensburg University expects ALL incoming students to complete AlcoholEdu and Haven. These online courses are educational, thoughtful, and effective programs for adults committed to thinking about their life choices.

Course Details:

AlcoholEdu for College- Whether you drink or not, this course will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and help you reflect on and consider college drinking related issues.

Haven Understanding Sexual Assault- Learn about healthy relationships, the importance of consent and being a good communicator, and the many ways you can help create the safe, positive campus you want to be a part of.

Instructions for Students 

AlcoholEdu® and Haven for Students Directions

AlcoholEdu and Haven for Students will be available after July 28, 2014 via their myship portal.

    How to access AlcoholEdu and Haven:

    1. Log on to myShip Campus Portal by going to OR access the portal via the homepage and clicking on the “myShip Campus Portal” button on the left side of the page.
    2. Enter your username and password (this is the same information you use to access your Shippensburg University email).
    3. Once you’ve logged in, select "Ship Life" from the "Student" tab at the top of the page.
    4. Under the “Rights and Responsibilities” heading, you will see the links for both AlcoholEdu and Haven.  

    To fulfill Shippensburg University's requirement, you must achieve the following: 

    • Complete AlcoholEdu final exam with a 75% or higher.
    • Complete AlcoholEdu Part 1 (approx. 1-2 hours) by: August 20, 2014.
    • Complete Haven (approx. 30- 60 minutes) by: August 20, 2014.
    • Complete AlcoholEdu Part 2 (approx. 15 min) by: October 31, 2014.

    Other Important Information

    • You will need Internet access and audio capabilities.
    • You may take the course in multiple sittings. Sections end with a “Next” button. DO NOT log out until you click the “Next” button or you will have to repeat the section.
    • The courses may include surveys to help personalize your experience and measure students’ alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students’ answers.
    • Should you experience technical difficulties, click the “Help” button to access the 24/7 help center or call them directly: 1-866-384-9062.

    Instructions for Parents

    AlcoholEdu® for Parents Directions

    AlcoholEdu for Parents will be available for your review after July 28, 2014.

    To take AlcoholEdu for Parents, you will need a computer with internet access and audio capabilities. 

    1. Go to:
    2. Please review the minimum technical requirements available at the bottom of the AlcoholEdu for Parents login page. 
    3. Under New User enter the following Login ID for PARENTS ONLY: P171599PARENT.

    IMPORTANT:  Do NOT share this Web site and Login ID with your child as he/she will not receive credit for course completion under this account.
        • We have provided your son or daughter with a separate student Login ID and instructions for accessing the student version of AlcoholEdu via their myship portal.
        • Students may contact Sarah McDowell at or the AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center if they need login assistance.

    4. Click “Sign Up” and follow the on-screen prompts.
    5. When you return, log in as a Returning User and enter the same email address and password you created when you first logged into the course.

    Should you experience any difficulties or require support, the AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Simply click on the “Technical Help” button located in the upper right-hand corner of every AlcoholEdu for Parents screen. You do not need to be logged into the course to access the Technical Support Center.
