Special Instructions for International Students

Please allow plenty of time to go through the admission process. Departments have varying schedules and deadlines. The Admissions Office can give you more information about this. It is important for you to read the admission instructions and follow them carefully. Your admission to graduate school at Shippensburg University and the issuance of an I-20 does not depend on whether or not you have obtained a graduate assistantship. The issuance of an I-20 form depends upon your submitting a complete and accurate Affidavit of Support and all documentation. If needed, a revised I-20 form will be prepared when you secure a graduate assistantship.

If you are interested in a graduate assistantship position, you may begin the process by browsing this website. As early as March, you may view a list of positions for the following summer sessions and the fall semester. Both job descriptions and supervisors' contact information are available by clicking on position titles. You may contact these supervisors; however, an appointment letter will not be issued until you are admitted to a graduate program. It is suggested that you begin with phone calls or email messages to the supervisors of the positions that interest you. Some supervisors may request additional information or references or they may wish to schedule interviews with you when you arrive in Shippensburg.
