The Honors Program welcomes applications from high school seniors, first-semester freshmen, second-semester sophomores, and transfer students. Approximately 50 students are admitted to the program each year. You may apply online, download an application form below, or request that a form be mailed to you by contacting the Honors Program office at (717) 477-1604 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
High School Seniors
The academic standards for admission to the Honors Program are SAT scores of at least 1200 and rank in the upper 20% of your high school class. While SAT scores and class rank are important, other factors, including grade point average and evidence of leadership and community service, are also considered in admissions decisions.
Students may submit an application to the Honors Program after having been offered admission to Shippensburg University. For the fullest consideration of your Honors application, please submit it by March 1. Applications received after March 1 will be considered on a space-available basis.
Freshmen must earn at least a 3.25 QPA in their first-semester courses to be considered for admission to the Honors Program. To apply, please submit the application and one letter of recommendation from a Shippensburg professor.
The deadline for applications from first-semester freshmen is January 5. Admissions decisions are made in early January. Freshmen admitted to the program will consult with the Honors staff before the spring semester begins to revise their class schedules to include Honors courses.
Students may apply for admission to the College Honors Program, the upper-division portion of the Honors Program, at the end of their sophomore year. Second-semester sophomores must have at least a 3.25 QPA to be eligible for consideration. To apply, please submit the College Honors application by June 30 for fall admission and by January 5 for spring admission.
Application for Second-Semester Sophomores
Transfer students are eligible to apply to the Honors Program. Please complete the application for transfer students and submit it by March 1 for fall admission and by January 5 for spring admission.
