Overview

 

You can modify the layout and widgets of your course homepage from the default design.  This guide will show you how to do that.

 

Intended Audience:  Faculty

 

Changing the Course Start Date and End Date

 

1.  From the course homepage, click the icon located in the bottom right of the screen below the widgets. 

2.  Click Manage Homepages.

3.  Click the down arrow to the right of Daylight Course Default, and choose Copy.

4.  Click the title "Daylight Course Default - Copy" to begin editing the newly copied homepage.  

NOTE:  If you've already copied a homepage and made edits then you would click the homepage that you'd want to edit instead.  Any homepage not clickable is set by ID and must be Copied before you can edit it.

5.  Modify any of the various elements of the Homepage that you want.

  • NAME:  Here you can rename the new course homepage.

  • DESCRIPTION:  Here you can provide a description of the homepage you're going to modify.  This is optional.

  • TYPE:  Change the type of homepage you'd like.  Widget-based is the most common and you'll most likely want to keep it as is.

  • HEADER:  You can modify the header of the course here but we recommend that you leave it as is.

  • LAYOUT:  This controls the area where the widgets can go.  Clicking here will allow you to choose from various templates to change this area.

  • REMOVE/MOVE WIDGETS:  You can drag and drop each widget around in the area available or click the "X" when hovering over a widget to remove it.

  • ADD WIDGET:  Click either of these buttons to add a widget in the column above.

6.  Once you're finished, click Save and Close

7.  Finally, to set your new custom homepage you need to click the down arrow under "Active Homepage".

8.  Choose the desired homepage from the dropdown list.

9.  Click Apply.
