ACT 101 Student and Institutional Agreement

By the end of the semester or pay the cost of the item to the ACT 101 Advisory Book Loan.  If I do not RETURN THE BOOKS TO THE ASP OFFICE, a hold will be placed on my university file until the item(s) is/are returned or paid.

Act101 Program Details

First-Year ACT 101 Summer Bridge Student Responsibilities:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid in a timely manner.
  • Attend, participate, and successfully complete the Summer Bridge Orientation and four week program.
  • Receive a “C” or better in the academic course taken during the summer session, AEES 101: Foundations for Academic Success.
  • Meet with ACT 101 Academic Coaching staff and/or Faculty Advisor each year of matriculation to complete Individual Success Action Plan (ISAP). The ISAP is a mutually agreed upon contract that prescribes the minimum requirements to support an ACT 101 student’s academic development and success. The ISAP may suggest that students a) attend tutoring for any/all classes b) attend tutoring for all classes with a D or F midterm grade c) meet with the Academic Coaching staff or Faculty Advisor, as needed d) attend academic skills instruction as needed e) attend additional services if placed on academic probation.

First-Year Early Explorer ACT 101 Student Responsibilities:

  • Enroll in a fall section of AEES101: Foundations for Academic Success.
  • Meet with Academic Coaching staff or Faculty Advisor each semester of matriculation to complete Individual Success Action Plan (ISAP). The ISAP is a mutually agreed upon contract that prescribes the minimum requirements to support an ACT 101 student’s academic development and success. Continuing Act101 Students :

  • Complete ISAP with an Act101 staff member
  • Access to the Act101 Lending Library
  • Participate in any advised support components as needed

Shippensburg University ACT 101 Staff and Faculty Members Will Provide:

  • Quality instruction, advisement, and support from a competent and caring faculty and staff.
  • Access to counselors, academic skills instruction, tutoring services, and the Lending Library.
  • The Financial Aid office will prepare a financial aid package based upon financial need as determined by the student’s FAFSA. ACT 101 will conduct workshops in conjunction with the Financial Aid office and will aid me in completing the FAFSA.

Grievance Policy:

A student who is not satisfied with the services provided by any staff or faculty member of ACT 101 will first meet with their assigned Academic Coach and/or Faculty Advisor. A student who is not satisfied with the outcome of this meeting, or who does not feel comfortable with confronting the coach or advisor, will schedule a meeting with either of the Grant Director. A student not satisfied with the outcome of this meeting will meet with the Dean of Exploratory Studies. All documentation of meetings will be put in writing and mailed to the student with a copy in the student’s permanent file.
