Internship Opportunities

Internship opportunities include family businesses, franchises, small businesses, and corporations where there is a need for entrepreneurial-minded individuals. Internships often turn into job offers, according to post-graduate surveys of Ship business students.

The Handshake online job bank contains listings for both full- and part-time internship opportunities at some of PA's leading employers. You can use this online resource to:

• Explore careers
• Post your resume and other job-related documents
• Connect with alumni and mentors to gather more information about specific career paths
• Access the document library for helpful resources to aid you in your job search process
• Research companies/organizations and positions available
• Obtain information about upcoming events (job fairs, networking events, workshops, speakers)
• Select “Favorite” employers and contacts
• Manage on-campus interviews

Students can also arrange their own internship by:

• Attending career fairs and expos: Held on campus (see upcoming events at top of page) and off-campus, these events are a great way to meet prospective employers seeking interns.
• Networking with friends and family in the business world: You may know people who have connections to businesses with great internship opportunities.
• Applying to federal and state programs: The Pathways Internship Program offers information for current students seeking internships, and the Pathways Recent Graduate Program provides options for student who will graduate soon, or within the past 2 years (6 years for veterans).
• Seeking other online resources: Locate the type of internship that matches your career goals using these online resources.

The most current internship opportunities are approved and distributed by email to eligible students as we receive them from prospective employers. E-mails will include the job description, including a brief description of the company, location, job responsibilities, pay, and a set of directions on how to apply for an academic internship for credit. You need to respond to these opportunities immediately by sending your resume and cover letter to the point of contact on the job description. We encourage you to have your resume and cover letter reviewed by the Career Center before sending.
