The Shippensburg University Enactus (formerly known as Students in Free Enterprise or SIFE) team returned to Shippensburg as winners after participating in the Baltimore 2013 Enactus Regional Competition on March 22, 2013.  The event was one of 10 Enactus USA Regional Competition being held across the United States.

The presentation team consisted of Jennifer Fourhman (stepping in for Ryley Behm), Nicholas March, Amber Sherrock, and Brittany Woodruff. Also in attendance were Brittany Lapp and Tracy Brenner. After presenting a report of their year-long community outreach projects to a panel of business leaders, SHIP Enactus team was named a SIFE USA Regional Champion in the overall competition.  The team will now advance to the national competition at the Enactus USA Exposition May 21-23, 2013 in Kansas City, Missouri.

“I think we were all very anxious to find the results. Our team members put in countless hours over the year, preparing for this competition, and it showed. I couldn’t be more proud of what we accomplished this year,” said Tracy Brenner, President of Enactus.

“This program is excellent for SHIP students since it provides them the opportunity to put theories to work and apply written and oral communication skills, while assisting their community and help making the world a better place.  The team accomplished five projects serving communities across the globe and their performance in Baltimore was exceptional.  “I am very proud of them and their accomplishments during the year.  I am also very grateful for the support given to our students by the Administration, friends, alumni, and business leaders, said Dr. John Kooti, Dean and Sam Walton Fellow.”

Enactus is an international non-profit organization active on over 1600 university campuses in more than 38 countries.  Enactus teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that meet the Enactus criteria.  Their projects are judged at competition on creativity, innovation and effectiveness.
