What Will I Learn?

Entrepreneurship is what powers the economy and you will develop the skills and contacts necessary to make ideas real. This program gives you a broad skill set for traditional venture startup or lean entrepreneurship. You will learn to recognize opportunities and convert new ideas into business plans with a focus on implementation. The program also helps you understand risk and develop an entrepreneurial perspective to overcome challenges and achieve success. You'll also receive a thorough background in marketing, management and contemporary economic theory.

The Entrepreneurship, B.S.B.A. provides customized paths for success in specific business systems, including:

What are the requirements for this degree?

You will need to complete 120 credits in the following areas:

  • General education courses: All students are required to complete the university's general education program, which provides a balanced liberal arts foundation.
  • Business core courses: All business majors take the same core curriculum. This core includes economics, finance, information systems, marketing, organization behavior and business law as well as other business subjects.
  • Entrepreneurship courses: A sequence of courses for entrepreneur students that provides the necessary technical knowledge with respect to tools, techniques and concepts.

Possible double majors include finance, accounting, MIS and supply chain management.

Recommended minors include psychology, computer science, technical/professional communications, French, Spanish and German studies.

Shippensburg University offers small class sizes and plenty of opportunities for one-on-one contact with faculty members.

There are a number of clubs you can participate in to learn more about your area of study outside the classroom. Student professional organizations will provide you with a variety of opportunities to develop professional contacts, enhance your course of study with hands-on application and build lasting friendships within the business community.

Internships provide great opportunities for on-the-job experience while you gain credits. They often turn into job offers for our students.

The Small Business Development Center is a great asset to our campus. It helps entrepreneurs make sound decisions and provides no-cost confidential consulting and low cost training to small business owners and potential entrepreneurs in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties.
