How to Get Started

The objective of the Academic Improvement (AIM) Plan is to assist students who are on academic probation to develop strategies and skills that will help them to improve their cumulative grade point average (CGPA) and work toward getting off academic probation.

If you are academic probation and wish to learn more about what AIM has to offer, please read the Introduction Letter and view the Aim Orientation Video found below.

After you have viewed the video:

  1. Print the SMART Goals Handout from the link below and complete it using the information you have learned for the video.You will bring this handout to your next AIM appointment.

  2. Make an appointment to complete the AIM Intake, including Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI).

    • Review the Fall LASSI Schedule in the link below and schedule an hour slot to come to the Learning Center and complete the AIM Intake, LASSI, and schedule a follow-up meeting with an AIM staff member.

    • Then email us at aim@ship.edu letting us know when you would like to come in.This merely provides us with an idea of how many students to expect during these time slots. It is not meant to indicate an acceptance or rejection of your selected time.Please plan to spend at least 50 minutes to complete LASSI/AIM Intake.

  3. Finally come to during your selected hour to get stared in AIM and begin working toward getting off academic probation.
