Mentor/Mentee Program

The Pride Center offers a mentor/mentee program to provide LGBTQIA2S+  students a confidential source of support in navigating life as marginalized college students.

While all students can benefit from the experience of mentorship, LGBTQIA2S+ students and other marginalized students often require support beyond simply how to succeed in the classroom. LGBTQIA2S+ students are often navigating the demands of academia alongside the development of their intersecting identities, the possible loss of given family support, figuring out how to build and develop queer/trans community and chosen family, what it means to be LGBTQIA2S+, and how to apply for name and gender marker changes.

You may be learning how to navigate barriers to health care, figuring out how to dress, act, and bring your whole self into the workplace, and what to do when you experience harm in an unsupportive classroom, for example. The mentorship program can provide you with an intentional space to explore your identities, foster resilience and self-care, and develop an understanding of how to access resources in varying institutions.
