Welcome newest member of the Ship Shippensburg University family! The Office of New Student and Family Programs staff are so excited to meet you and assist you as your start your new journey at Ship.
Keeping the safety, health and well-being of our Ship Family as our top priority, New Student Orientation and Parent and Family Orientation will be presented in a virtual format. You will not need to travel to Shippensburg this summer to complete orientation.
New students will complete components of the orientation program in three parts. These components will assist you in your transition to Ship while providing just in time information as you prepare to begin this Fall.
Students will need to attend one of our required virtual orientation programs. These programs will last about three hours (8:45AM-12:30PM). During this program you will participate in small group discussions with Orientation Leaders and other students to foster new friendships and connections. Additionally, students will learn about the First-Year Experience and academic expectations at Ship.
Choose your date now at Orientation Registration. (You will need your application username and password to sign up.)
All new students will have the chance to explore campus resources further at their own pace through an online orientation portal. This portal will include information that will assist with you with your academic and personal success at Ship. All students will be required to complete all the modules before the start of Fall Welcome Week.
Throughout July and August students will be able to engage with their orientation leaders and campus partners in weekly interactive information session and fun activities. All new students are asks to attend at least 50% of the sessions offered.
Every Tuesday starting July 7th to August 11th , orientation will various campus departments to host interactive information sessions. These sessions will provide you with the opportunity to learn more resources and how these support systems can assist you throughout you time at Ship. Sessions will include information regarding
- On-campus living
- Commuter Resources
- Campus Life & Activities
- Students Success/Tutoring/Learning Center
- First Generation Resources
- Recreation Facilities
- First-Year Experience & meeting your Peer Anchor
Every Thursday starting July 9th to August 6th your Orientation Leaders will be hosting fun activities that will help you meet more new students and some of our upperclassmen. Virtual Activities will include:
- Club and Organizational Fair
- Interactive games
- Open Mic Night
- Dance Party
Parents and families will be invited to attend a virtual orientation program at the end of July. During this program, you will connect faculty, and staff to get all your Ship questions answered. This program will last about two hours. Additionally, parent/families will have the chance to explore campus resources further like their student at their own pace through an online orientation portal. This portal will include information that will assist you in helping your student succeed academically and personally.
