Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate

Shippensburg University offers a 12-credit Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate.

What Will I Learn?

This program provides a strong intermediate background in geographic information systems, data analysis and geotechnology (GPS, remote sensing, drones, etc.). Elective options provide you with some flexibility to pursue certain interests.

What are the requirements for this degree?

All students at Shippensburg University, except GIS majors, are eligible to earn the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate. This includes non-degree seeking students.

You must complete two required courses and customize the rest of your program by completing any two approved elective courses. Students may transfer, if approved, up to six geotechnology course credits taken at another accredited institution into the program. Graduate students in the Geography-Earth Science Department may double count up to six geotechnology course credits at the 400 level or higher toward both their Master of Science program and this certificate program's requirements.
