Welcome to Shippensburg University Library's Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery (ILL) service. ILL is available to current SU students, faculty, staff, administrators.
Loan Terms
Shippensburg University students, faculty, staff, and administrators may borrow ILLiad or EZ-Borrow items for 28 days and may renew each item up to one time if necessary.
Faculty Emeriti and SU Foundation Staff may request up to five items on Interlibrary Loan at a time.
For assistance, please contact the Interlibrary Loan Staff at 477-1462 or email the ILL department at: libill@ship.edu).
Please follow the steps below to order articles or books and other materials. Undergraduate students may request up to 10 items and graduate students up to 20. If you need more than this, please consult with a librarian at the Information Desk before submitting requests.
Requesting Articles
Often it is easier to place your ILL request directly from within the searched database. Look for the "Check Availability" link near the article you're looking for; if the Check Availability pages lists no online access points, you can click the "ILLiad" link near the bottom of the page and have the article data imported into ILLiad with a mouse-click or two.
- Check the Journals List , to make sure that Shippensburg does not own or have access to the specific year of the journal, magazine, or newspaper for which you are looking. If the library does not have immediate online access to the article, please
- Request through ILLiad - the article will be scanned and sent to you electronically
Requesting Books and Other Items
When the library does not own an item, we provide two tools to request books or other items. EZ-Borrow provides 3 sets of Pennsylvania academic libraries to search, with an approximate turn-around time of 3 business days. ILLiad sequentially asks 5 libraries which have the item, each library has 2 days to respond before the request is transferred to the next library, the turn-around time could be as long as 10 days.
- Doublecheck the Catalog to confirm whether or not the library owns the book.
- Check EZBorrow PALCI - the vast majority of books may be requested easily through this consortium of 50+ academic libraries. Your Shippensburg University ID number (14 digit number beginning with 22403...) serves as your "Patron ID".
- Off-Campus students may want to consider requesting books through UBorrow .
Books requested through UBorrow may be picked up or dropped off at the
library at any of the 14 State System Universities (Millersville, West
Chester, etc.).
- For books and other materials not available using the services listed above, please request through ILLiad .
