international travel series
Shippensburg University’s Dr. Kurt Kraus, professor of
counseling, will present “Scaling the Heights of Happiness in the Kingdom of
Bhutan,” as part of Ship’s international travel series on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at
6:30 p.m. This free and public event will be held in Grove Forum.
Kraus traveled to Bhutana as a Fulbright Scholar. He has
visited the tiny Buddhist Kingdom three times since 2008, including during his
Fulbright experience in spring 2015. High in the Himalayan Mountains, Bhutan
has been called the happiest country on earth, but living there presents
challenges to Westerners.
Kraus will share stories from time in Bhutan and will
attempt to answer several questions including why Westerners should care about
Bhutan’s “Gross National Happiness.”
The event is sponsored by the Counseling Department, Campus
Fulbright Committee, and the International Studies Program. For more
information, email Dr. Jonathan Skaff at email@example.com.
