The Office of the Registrar provides services for Ship students, alumni, faculty, administration and staff. These services can be accessed using the links on this page or via the appropriate information system. We strive to provide an efficient delivery of these services in a customer-friendly and helpful environment.

Academic Calendar

Application for Graduation

The application deadline for May and August Graduation is Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Once received, these applications will be reviewed by the appropriate academic dean's office or graduate department. This process will require approximately 8 weeks after the due date for applications. For more information, please visit www.ship.edu/Registrar/Graduation_Process/.

Fall Graduate Scheduling

Graduate scheduling for the fall 2017 semester begins Monday, March 20 at 8 a.m. and ends Tuesday, September 5. Students may log into the myShip portal for the most up-to-date listing of available courses. Please visit http://www.ship.edu/Registrar/Graduate_Scheduling_Information/ for additional information on preparing to schedule.

Final Exams

Final Exam assignments are available to view in the myShip portal under “Student Registrar News” or by clicking here.  Please locate each of your classes on the PDF chart to find the final exam time and location.  All evening classes with start times of 5:15 p.m.; 5:20 p.m.; 5:30 p.m.; 6:00 p.m.; 7:00 p.m.; 7:30 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. will meet in the regular classroom at the regular class day/time for the final exam.  Mon/Wed and Tues/Thurs evening classes will have the final exam on the first meeting sequence day (i.e. Monday evening for Mon/Wed classes and Tuesday evening for Tues/Thurs classes). 

The Final Exam Schedule may also be viewed on the Registrar’s website at www.ship.edu/Registrar under “Information and Services.”

Please note that students who have a time conflict or more than two finals in one day should notify an affected faculty member no later than the week before finals to resolve the matter.  If the faculty member is unable to resolve the matter, the department chair should be consulted.  Questions may be directed to the Registrar’s Office. 

Last Day to Change UG Major

Undergraduate students may declare or change a major any time except for during scheduling, which includes schedule clean-up and the two weeks prior to scheduling. For the fall semester, changes will be accepted until Monday, March 6. Any changes submitted after this date will not be processed until scheduling is complete.  The following programs are currently identified as high-demand: Biology, Pre-K-4 and 4-8 Education programs, Communications/Journalism, Criminal Justice and Psychology. Students who wish to declare a major in a high-demand program must submit their request within the first three weeks of the semester (by February 13) in order to be considered. The deadline for students interested in declaring a major in Education is two weeks into the semester.  Students declaring other majors should submit requests during this period to allow them to be processed before scheduling for the next semester.

Last Day to Withdraw with "W" Grade

After schedule adjustment, all students, except first-semester freshmen, may withdraw from classes with "W" grades through myShip .  First-semester freshmen must contact their dean’s office to explore their options for withdrawing from a class.  Students will be able to withdraw from all but their final class.   All undergraduate students must personally visit their academic dean's office to process a withdrawal from their final class.  Graduate students must visit www.ship.edu/Registrar/Withdrawal_Request_Form/. to request a withdrawal from their final class.

To withdraw from a class, please follow these instructions:  

  1. Log in to myShip portal.
  2. Click on My Academics from the Student drop down menu.
  3. Click on Add or Drop Classes link under the Registration Tools heading.
  4. If prompted, select current registration term.
  5. Click on the Action drop-down menu for the CRN (course reference number) from which you want to withdraw.
  6. Select Course Withdrawal Through Web.
  7. Select Submit Changes to submit your withdrawal.
  8. If your submission was successful, status for course should indicate Course Withdrawal through WEB on (date you submitted withdrawal).

The deadline to withdraw from a class or the University and receive a "W" grade is as follows for each part of term (POT):

NOTE OF CAUTION:  Before withdrawing from a class, careful thought should be given to the possible consequences.  Withdrawals may have a negative impact on your progress toward graduation, your eligibility for financial aid, and your health insurance coverage.  If you are unsure or have any concerns, you should consult with your academic advisor with questions about your progress toward graduation, the financial aid office with questions about any financial aid you may have, and your health care provider for any potential changes to health coverage.  

Students are responsible for any class(es) appearing on their schedule.

NOTE: After the schedule adjustment period, NO REFUNDS will be given for any withdrawn courses. Charges will not be reduced for classes withdrawn with a "W" grade. 

Summer Graduate Scheduling

Graduate scheduling for all summer courses begins Monday, March 20.  Online scheduling will be available as follows:

Term A Scheduling - March 20 - May 24
Term B Scheduling - March 20 - July 5

The above dates are for Part of Term 1 in each summer term (full term).  Other parts of term will have different drop/add dates.  Please visit www.ship.edu/Registrar/Semester_Information_--_Summer/ for additional part of term information.  Students may check the course listings in the myShip portal for the most up-to-date listing of available courses. 

Summer Undergraduate Scheduling

Undergraduate scheduling time tickets for summer courses begins March 27. Online scheduling will be available as follows:

Term A Scheduling - March 27 (or your start time) - May 24
Term B Scheduling - March 27 (or your start time) - July 5

Undergraduate Schedule Clean-Up

Fall schedule clean-up begins at 8 AM on Monday, April 24 and will end at 4 PM on Friday, May 5.

If you intended to schedule for fall 2017 but were unable to do so or if you would like to make modifications to your existing schedule, you should do so during schedule clean-up.  Remember, if you have not yet scheduled any courses, you will need to use your alternate PIN (available from your advisor) in order to schedule.  

After schedule clean-up is over, the next opportunity to update your schedule will be during schedule adjustment which begins August 1.
