Graduate Admissions Process
In order to make your admissions process as smooth as possible, follow the steps in this application checklist.
Choose a Graduate program.
- Ship offers you master's, post-master's, certificate and certification, and doctoral programs.
- A full listing is located on the Graduate Programs page.
Complete a Graduate Admissions Application.
Submit official transcripts.
- Include each and every institution that has awarded you college credit. This enables us to have the most accurate record of your academic history.
- Electronic transcripts must be sent directly from the institution or mailed to:

- E-mailed copies or copies scanned and sent by you will not be accepted.
- If you need to, pending your program, take the GRE, MAT, or GMAT click the links to get more info on testing.
- If your undergraduate GPA was below 2.75 it is recommended to take the corresponding test with your program admissions requirements.
- Testing requirements are listed on individual program pages.
- International applicants should also visit the International Requirements page.
Check your graduate program requirements for supplemental application materials.
- An admission decision cannot be made until all supplemental documents are received.
Submit supplemental materials by e-mail as a PDF or Word document attachment to GradAdmiss@Ship.edu.
- Be sure to submit these items prior to the application deadline. You may also send these documents via USPS mail or fax to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
Track your application's status. Ship's online portal enables you to check your application and see which items are still outstanding.
Application Review Process
Once you have successfully completed the application process, your file will be sent to the academic department for initial review. Faculty will contact you if a formal interview needs to be scheduled, this is pending upon the degree you have chosen. Normally, you should expect to have a formal admission decision within 3 weeks of submitting all your application documents.
You will receive your admission decision via USPS mail and are encouraged to routinely check your application status online.
Withdraw or defer your application to a future semester by completing the Request to Withdraw or Defer Form.
