Winter Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony

Information for Faculty Participants
The Winter commencement programs are Dec. 12 for graduate students and Dec. 13 for undergraduate students. The graduate ceremony is 7 p.m. in the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center and the undergraduate ceremony is 11 a.m. in Heiges Field House. Information on the graduate ceremony will be shared by the School of Graduate Studies.
- Faculty Participation: The
Commencement Committee invites faculty to participate. College deans will poll
department chairs by Dec. 5 to determine the number of faculty participants to provide an
accurate count of required seats.
- Cap and gown : Faculty
members who wish to order academic regalia are asked to contact the University
Store at ext. 1600 from on campus or 477-1600 from off campus.
- Diploma presentation: If you want to
present a diploma cover to a family member or student who is graduating, please contact
Dr. Peter M. Gigliotti at ext. 1202 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
by Dec. 5.
- Guest admission: No tickets are required for general admission to the program. Faculty
and administrators who wish to bring a guest may obtain a ticket for reserved
seating from the Office of University Communications and Marketing, ext. 1201.
Deadline to request tickets is Dec. 5.
- Guest arrival: Doors
to the field house arena will open at 9 a.m. (or earlier in the case of
inclement weather) for guests. Light refreshments will be available in the
arena. Please have your guests arrive in time to be seated by 10:15 a.m.
- Robing: Please
use the lobby entrance to the field house. Faculty will assemble by 10:30 a.m.
in the locker room areas. Women faculty will robe in the Lady Raiders locker
room. Men will robe in the main men’s locker room. The platform party,
administrators, special participants, etc. will robe in the Red Raiders locker
- Academic procession: The academic procession will form at 10:45 a.m. and
start promptly at 11 a.m. The mace bearer will lead the processional followed
by the graduating class, faculty, trustees and administrators, and then the
platform party. The mace bearer will lead the recessional followed by the
platform party, trustees and administrators, and faculty. Faculty who elect not
to recess so they may meet with graduates are asked to step aside so other faculty
may continue in the recessional.
