D2L Basics I

This session provides essential knowledge required to get started with course development in Desire2Learn Learning Environment.

  • Effectively use course development tools located in the Learning Environment.  
  • Create new content and edit existing content using Desire2Learn?s editing features, including the HTML editor. 
  • Incorporate key communication tools into your course design and delivery.

D2L Intelligence Agents

Intelligent Agents monitor your class to find activity that matches criteria such as login activity or release conditions that are set by the instructor. The agent then sends a separate email to the user that created the agent when it finds users matching its criteria. Agents can be run manually or set them to run on a schedule; daily, weekly, monthly, or annually.

D2L Surveys

In this workshop you will learn how to:

Access the survey tool and create a survey and create a new survey

  1. Add questions to the Survey in the Survey area.
  2. Add questions to the Survey from the Question Library
    1. Upload questions to the Question library using Respondus
    2. Create questions in the Question Library within D2L
    3. Add questions to the survey from the Question Library

Preparing for Your Summer Course [NEW]

This is an open three hour session where you can work on your course and consult with the IDDS staff. You are in control of this three hour session. Mini-trainings will be conducted based on the needs of the person or group attending.


Using Respondus to Upload Quiz Questions to D2L

In this workshop you'll learn how to format quiz questions so they upload automatically through Respondus. Respondus is a software program that takes the raw quiz questions, formats them and allows you to easily add them to the D2L platform.

There are many different types of scanning software. Frequently, software is shipped with the scanner that was purchased for home or office use. IDDS has purchased the Canoscan Lide 100 for use in the lab. Learn how to use this software to scan both text and graphics.

Online Wimba Courses [ Learn More ]

What is Wimba and why do I want to use it for training? 

Wimba is a virtual classroom. It builds relationships by allowing participants in the classroom to hear and see each other, share applications on their desktops, and display course content.

Why is IDDS using Wimba? 

IDDS wants to increase our service to faculty by providing an additional service that will allow a faculty member to stay home or in their office while still obtaining the assistance they require.

The Wimba Session was created to provide an overview of the D2L platform. The first 1.5 hours will cover each area of the platform. The last half hour will be open to general D2L questions. Along with the Wimba session, we recommend that instructors sign up for a Wimba Test Session. The test session will help us ensure that everyone can access the platform.
