Poet to present reading Nov. 19
Poet Steve Gehrke will be at Shippensburg University for a reading from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 19 in the Cora I. Grove Spiritual Center.
The reading, in conjunction with the English Department, is part of the John Taggart Reading Series, named for Dr. John Taggart, a retired English department faculty member at Shippensburg and well-known poet.
Gehrke is an assistant professor at Gettysburg College. His most recent book was Michelangelo's Seizure. His other books are The Pyramids of Malpighi, winner of the Philip Levine Prize, and The Resurrection Machine, selected for the John Ciardi Prize. He's received a grant from the NEA, a Pushcart Prize, the Faulkner-Wisdom Poetry Prize, and several other awards.
