SBDC center to host program Oct. 16
Shippensburg
University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a program on
women-owned small business certification Oct. 16. The
program, free and open to the public, is from 9 a.m. to noon in Grove Hall 401
on campus.
The
SBDC program provides no-cost confidential consulting and low cost training in
proven management fundamentals helping small business owners and potential
entrepreneurs make sound decisions for the successful operation of their
business. Shippensburg’s center serves Adams, Cumberland Franklin and York
counties.
The
U.S. Small Business Administration program is presented by George Murray who has has worked for the
Small Business Administration (SBA) for four years. In his current role, Murray
is a business development specialist focused on government contracting for
several counties in the Philadelphia District territory. His primary
responsibilities include providing general business assistance to small
business owners inquiring about the SBA.
Topics
to be covered include eligibility criteria protests, required steps to
participate in the program, and the difference between WOSB and EDWOSB (Economically
Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business). It will also include a presentation
on doing business with the federal government that will provide an overview of
how to engage with federal agencies.
