University to present program Oct. 8 on domestic violence

Shippensburg University will host a program Oct. 8 to raise awareness of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse.

The free, public program is at 6:30 p.m. in the Ceddia Union Building multi-purpose room. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Donna Anderson, author of Lovefraud.com, is the guest speaker. Her presentation is “Love Fraud and How to Avoid it.”

Anderson will use her own personal experiences with abuse and her journey to recovery. According to information from Anderson, her story was on Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?” on Investigation Discovery, “My Life is a Lifetime Movie" on the Lifetime network, and the "Ricki Lake Show." She is scheduled to appear on ABC's “20/20.”

Andersen launched Lovefraud.com to educate the public about social predators in 2005, and it has evolved into a healing community of survivors. She also wrote Red Flags of Love Fraud—10 signs you’re dating a sociopath, and the accompanying Red Flags of Love Fraud Workbook.

More information about the program is available by contacting the Women’s Center at wmscentr@ship.edu or 477-1790.
