“It has been said that journalism is a calling. Without a doubt journalists have a desire to learn and share what they know to aid our society as it moves into the future. Our methods and tools may be changing but newsgathering and story-telling remain at the heart of what we do. Today’s journalists and public relations practitioners must be flexible and willing to commit to life-long learning."

The most exciting aspect of our chosen career is working within a changing landscape and being able to rise to those challenges. Building on a foundation of solid writing skills and harnessing the power of technology ensures that today’s students are prepared to meet the demands of the profession and meet the needs of the communities they serve.”

Professor Kanagy is a working journalist as well as an instructor at Shippensburg University. She also serves as interim advisor to the Cumberland Yearbook.
