International Education Week
Shippensburg University will celebrate International
Education Week starting Oct. 23, by featuring the documentary “I Am Eleven,”
beginning at 7 p.m. in Grove Hall forum.
Australian film maker Genevieve Bailey traveled the world
for six years talking to 11 year olds to compose this insightful, funny and
moving documentary portrait of childhood. From an orphanage in India, to a
single-parent household in inner-city Melbourne, to bathing with elephants in
Thailand, the documentary weaves together deeply personal and at times
hilarious portraits of what it means to sit at this transitional age.
This event is sponsored by the Office of Social Equity, Global Community Awareness Committee, International Programs, the departments of Counseling and College Student Personnel, English, Geography/Earth Sciences, Sociology/Anthropology, Teacher Education and the International Studies Program.
