Making the move from HACC to Ship is easy
Hayley Anderson and Justin Fuller can attest to the strong partnership between Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) and Shippensburg University.
President Laurie A. Carter and John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D., president of HACC signed a comprehensive and enhanced articulation agreement that continues to ensure a seamless transfer of course work for HACC students seeking to transfer to Ship.
Hayley and her service dog, Oliver, graduated from HACC last spring and Justin came to Ship from HACC as a sophomore.
Justin, a criminal justice major, says he’s adjusting to “a bigger atmosphere” but that the move between schools was smooth.
“It was pretty easy to transfer. When I went to orientation, they sat down with me….It was a step-by-step process. It was nice.”
Hayley says both schools made the process easy. “I couldn’t have done it without Damian in (Shippensburg University) Admissions. And HACC’s staff helped me transfer over and met with me privately.”
Students like Hayley and Justin now have the opportunity to reverse transfer, one of the additions under the refreshed agreement. Students who transfer to Ship before earning their associate degree at HACC can still be awarded a two-year degree after completing their requirements at Ship as the work towards their bachelor’s degree.
With this student-focused approach, Shippensburg University and HACC are poised to serve the region’s students and its workforce.
