The Ceddia Union Building (CUB) serves as the University Union & Student Activities Center. The CUB strives to enrich the lives of students, members of the university and surrounding communities through educational opportunities, a variety of services as well as co curricular programming.

Director for the University Union & Student Activities (CUB) 

  • Responsible for oversight, direction, all services/programs for the Ceddia Union Building (CUB) and Cora I. Grove Interfaith Chapel & Spiritual Center
  • Serves as an advisor for the Activities Program Board (APB), specifically co-advising Executive Board
  • Serves as an advisor to the SU Homecoming Committee Executive Board
  • Coordinates the McFeely's Coffeehouse Artist Collective
  • Oversees all student employment areas within the CUB including hiring, training, etc.

Associate Director for University Union Operations 

  • Works with the Administrative Assistant and Information & Spiritual Center Coordinator to coordinate all reservations, set-ups, equipment & AV requests for all events and meetings taking place in the Ceddia Union Building & Cora I. Grove Spiritual Center
  • Responsible for coordinating all set-ups, equipment, sound and lighting requirements for a meetings and events
  • Serve as the primary supervisor for the Graduate Assistant for the University Union & Student Activities (CUB)
  • Facilitates the weekly CUB Operations meeting which includes, Custodial Services, Managers for Operations & Equipment Crew, Administrative
  • Assistant/Reservationist etc., to review set-ups and staffing requirements for upcoming events and meetings
  • Coordinates with the Camps & Conferences Office their schedule of events for staffing and set-ups

  • Primary advisor for the Activities Program Board (APB), comprised of an Executive Board, Concert, Entertainment, Multicultural Affairs (MAC), Performing Arts, Public Relations and Travel & Recreation Committees
  • specifically advises the Executive Board, Concert, Multicultural Affairs (MAC) & Performing Arts Committees 
  • Serves as co-advisor to the SU Homecoming Committee
  • Specifically advising the Executive Board and Publicity & Promotions Chairpersons
  • Serves as a programming resource for student clubs & organizations and university department & offices including contract negotiation & preparation

  • Serves as co-advisor to the SU Homecoming Committee
    • Specifically advising the Executive Board and the Spirit & Competition Chairperson
  • Serves as a programming resource for student clubs & organizations and University Department & Offices including negotiation and preparation. 
  • Coordinates & implements Leadership Development Programs including:
    • Leadership Institutes for Emerging (Spring 2010) and Advanced (TBA) Student Leaders
    • Leadership Awards Recognition Program
    • University Leadership Retreat (TBA)
  • Student Senate - works on the following programs and services for Student Clubs & Organizations:
    • Constitution Review (serves on the ECAC Extracurricular Activities Committee)

    • Prepares and possesses all contracts for student clubs and organizations

To be responsible for the direction, coordination, and control of all technical services including planning, managing and implementing all technical and staging aspects for performances and related educational activities 

  • Act as liaison for technical services between and for all departments, student groups and persons/groups authorized to use the facilities To oversee the management, scheduling, maintenance and improvements for the following:
    • Ceddia Union Building  
    • Memorial Auditorium 
  • Serves as a member of the University Union & Student Activities (CUB) staff on duty and on call for rotation for evening and weekend coverage  
  • Responsible for staffing & supporting major campus events sponsored by the department or university including but not limited to concerts, Parents & Family Celebration, homecoming, statewide weekend, new student orientation programs (fall welcome week, summer & January programs), RaiderFest, etc.

  • Activity Program Board (APB) & Student Activities
        • Serves as an advisor, attending weekly meetings, participate in planning, coordinating & staffing of events and meet informally with officers to brainstorm programming ideas
        • Shares responsibility for co-advising the Concert Committee with the staff
      • Campus Activities
        • Assist with the planning and staffing of major events including Orientation and other University special events
        • Assist with the Homecoming Committee, and work with the current board members & advisors to recruit students with board vacancies
      • Leadership Development
        • Support and assist with the planning and implementation of leadership workshops and retreats

      Campus Activities Intern

      The Campus Activities Intern will be responsible for helping to support all programs/events and Marketing Adveristing Publicity & Promotion (MAPP) initiatives that fall under the University Union & Student Activities department. The following are duties and responsibilities that are directly connected to this position: 

      • Assist the Associate Director for University Union Operations, Assistant Director for Campus Activities & Programming, staff and managers with the hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, testing, payroll, disciplinary actions/meetings, etc. for the Entertainment Crew (Game & Red Zone).  
      • Works with the Associate Director for University Union Operations, Assistant Director for Campus Activities & Programming, managers and staff on the planning and implementation for the following programs/events listed below. Planning includes reserving space, contracting events, shopping for event supplies/prizes, evaluations/surveys, staffing, program files, budgeting, paperwork, etc. and programming areas include: 
        • Red & Game Zone series;  
        • McFeely’s Coffeehouse series; 
        • Summer Programming 
        • Collaborations & Co-sponsorships

      • Responsible for maintaining all EIS crew work schedules electronically on the CUBMGR’s outlook account to the appropriate designated work area calendar (schedule) 
      • Responsible for updating and maintaining the Employee Substitution Request Form, ensuring that there are copies available in all employee areas

      • Maintain employee files with all forms, documents, paperwork, write-ups, etc.  
      • Oversees the preparing and printing of all agendas for all employee meetings including coordinating with the managers for area agenda items 
      • Work with the Associate Director to order work uniforms including shirts, name tags, etc. 
      • Responsible for maintaining, implementing and coordinating the following programs & initiatives: 
        • FISH! Philosophy 
        • STAR FISH (Employee Incentive Program) 
        • Customer Comment Cards  
        • National Student Employment Week  
      • Work with the Senior Manager to update and implement employee tests, evaluations and cross training initiatives

      • Responsible for maintaining the MAPP Tackle Box including trouble shooting/problem solving, policies & procedures, detailed step by step instructions, etc. 
      • Work with all of the managers to create, design and print posters/fliers, visual displays, banners, etc. for CUB sponsored events only (including social media) 
      • Create and implement an advertising campaign for the McFeely’s Coffehouse series 
      • Research and give away promotion items for CUB sponsored events

      • Responsible for maintaining the Game Zone Tackle Box
      • Establish, update and implement all policies & procedures for utilizing the Game Zone

      • Create surveys/evaluations for customers/patrons to give input 
      • Responsible for providing detailed training for all employees on all gaming and game equipment

      Red Zone Manager

      Coordinates with the Associate Director for University Union Operations & Assistant Director for Campus Activities & Programing to provide a variety of programs/events within this social space in the evenings and on weekends. This manager works closely with the EIS & Entertainment on the following: 

      • Responsible for maintaining the Red Zone Tackle Box including trouble shooting/problem solving, policies & procedures, detailed step by step instructions, inventory, employee contact list, schedule of programs/events, etc. 
        • Detailed instructions and rules must be included for all game equipment for the various games that can be played 
      • Responsible for providing detailed training for all employees 
      • Be knowledgeable & familiar will all game equipment (pool, darts, ping pong/table tennis, air hockey, foosball) and systems (cable/projection TV, sound & lighting) within the Red Zone 
      • Must research and keep current on all Cable/TV programming including sporting, pay per view, awards/special events, prime time TV shows

      Finances & Special Projects Intern

      The internship will focus on providing work related experience in the accounting & budgeting areas.  Work experiences will include establishing policies, procedures & operating protocols, budget reconciliation, setting up billing accounts and other special projects associated with accounting & budgeting.  

      • Work with the Director for the University Union & Student Activities (CUB) on the following initiatives & duties
      • Coordinate the filing & storage of budget records & files from previous years into binders by line item and then date order for the following budgets
      • Setup Access databases that will allow the recording of all journal entries, prepare Expenditure Requests for invoices/bills and additional forms such as the Petty Cash Expenditure Request, Line Item Transfer Request and other forms may be added to the database in the future for the following for 2012 – 13 Student Association Operating Budgets
