Honors Alumni Mentor Program

The Wood Honors College Honors Alumni Mentor Program is an initiative that aims to spark a connection between honors students past and present over shared interests and educational background. For students, the program represents an invaluable resource for building an authentic relationship that will aid in their professional development. For alumni, this program is a way to reconnect and give back by sharing the wisdom and experiences that they have gained in the working world.

Program Mission

The Honors Alumni Mentor Program provides students with the opportunity to form a genuine connection with Honors alumni over a shared interest and educational background.

Vision

With the Honors Alumni Mentor Program, the Wood Honors College seeks to create a student-alumni community that helps students build the foundation of their professional future and creates a stronger bond between the Honors College and its graduates.

Timeline

The program will run for the duration of one academic year. At the beginning of the fall semester, mentor-mentee pairs will be established. Each month thereafter, mentee's will receive a discussion prompt that is meant to spark a thoughtful discussion between the mentor-mentee pair. Mentors and mentees can conduct their discussion over their choice of email, phone, Skype, or in person.

At the end of the academic year, each party has the option to continue the mentor-mentee relationship. This can be done formally through the program, or informally on an independent basis.

You should expect to devote roughly one hour per month to communicating with your mentee/mentor.
