Step 3: Ship Status
Welcome Teacher Preparation Program Candidate! This is the first gate on your way to become a teacher. We look forward to getting to know each of you over the next 100 (ish) credit hours.
Your main focus at this point of your academic career will be obtaining and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. If this is not achieved within the first couple of semesters do not worry. A GPA of 2.80 (trending toward a 3.00) is acceptable.
Basic Skills Testing Requirements (BSTR)
On July 8, 2022, Governor Tom Wolf signed Act 55 of 2022 into Law. You can read the full details of what this means here.
TL;DR (too long; didn't read) version - this requirement has been waived through July 8, 2025.
In light of this waiver your Degree Audit should show that you have your satisfied the BSTR. If it does not, please contact the Assessment and Accreditation Coordinator so this can be remedied.
