Step 4: Foundational Status

Yeah, you've officially reached gate 2.  No formal action was required from you to get to this point.  You are most likely entering your second year at SU, and have earned around 30 credit hours.

How's that Image result for gpa check?

If your GPA falls below the minimum you will receive a gentle reminder of the requirements via email.  Additionally, you may be asked to submit an Individualized Action Plan (IAP).

Around this time you will also begin scheduling classes that will be tied to Field Experience hours ('memba the Matrix?).  From this point forward you will be working closely with the  Office of Partnerships, Professional Experiences, and Outreach (OPPEO).  They can be found on the third floor of Shippen Hall, Room 354.  Stop by, introduce yourself.  Tell them I said "Hi".

Additionally, prior to field placement, several clearances/documents will be required.  But, Stop Sign Art!

Do NOT initiate clearances until you hear from the OPPEO.  Obtaining these too early could result their expiration before utilization, which means money out of your pocket.

Toward the end of your Foundational Status (typically around 48-60 credit hours) you will be eligible to submit your formal admission into the Teacher Preparation Program.  Please collaborate with your Advisor to fill out the application.  Completed forms can be hand-delivered to Shippen Hall Room 303 or sent via email.
