Campus Facilities

Shippensburg University’s facilities are great resources for students, faculty, staff and the community. The cultural and educational opportunities made possible because of these facilities are a big reason why Ship is a special and collaborative place. Sharing our gifts with our community is very important to us.

The Center for Land Use and Sustainability (CLUS) at Shippensburg University fosters healthy, vibrant, and sustainable communities through applied research, experiential learning opportunities, and interdisciplinary, cross-sector partnerships. The center is located in the Shippensburg University Centers for Excellence 29 E. King Street | Shippensburg, PA 17257.

 

The Charles H. Diller Jr. Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation works toward: Improving the awareness of entrepreneurship as a career choice and as a crucially important economic activity among the campus community. The center is located in the Shippensburg University Centers for Excellence 29 E. King Street | Shippensburg, PA 17257.

 

The Dibert-Roddick Planetarium offers a number of shows throughout the year. Private shows are available to school groups and civic organizations.

The Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University has an impressive collection of clothing and accessories from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. It is a great resource for internships, volunteering and entertainment.

Grace B. Luhrs University Elementary School provides a unique opportunity to observe and participate in elementary school activities and classroom teaching experiences with children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Ship is the only university in Pennsylvania with an on-campus public elementary lab school.

Growing Edges Community Counseling Clinic is a nonprofit educational and counseling clinic backed by Shippensburg University’s Counseling and College Student Personnel Department. The clinic is the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. It provides no-cost or low-cost, time limit counseling services to individuals, couples and families in the community who may not have access to counseling, while providing our graduate students the opportunity to get field training.

The H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center is one of the largest performing arts centers in the region. The Luhrs Center hosts performances by nationally-known speakers, musicals, comedians, bands and more throughout the year.

The Kauffman Gallery presents several art exhibitions throughout the year. These include works from nationally and regionally recognized artists as well as those from members of Ship’s Art and Design Department.

The Little Red Schoolhouse on the campus of Shippensburg University is a one-room school that represents the first step in the development of public education in America. The building was taken apart brick by brick in 1969 and reconstructed on Ship’s campus. It is a fitting piece of history on campus because of Ship’s longstanding traditions of the education of teachers. The Little Red Schoolhouse is available for tours.

Memorial Auditorium provides a performance space for students, faculty, staff and community members. It is home to annual events such as musicals, plays and dance troupe showcases by various organizations.

Shippensburg Station and the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum is a multiuse event and performance space at the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail trailhead at the corner of Fort and Earl streets in historic Shippensburg. The centerpiece of the site is a restored 1956 railroad boxcar that once carried freight on the local line for the Penn Central railroad. Its interior is museum, which is connected to the rail trail by a deck that serves as a stage. It is a space for art exhibits, bands, local wine, beer and cider, and races on the trail. It also provides great community service and educational opportunities for the Shippensburg University campus community.

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Shippensburg University provides no-cost confidential consulting and low-cost training to small business owners and potential entrepreneurs in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and York counties. Networking and other opportunities are made possible because of the center's benefit to local businesses and the campus community alike.

Located in the Ceddia Union Building, the UPS store on campus offers shipping, packaging, printing and other services.
