Careers in Health Science

There are many careers to choose from within the health professions. Here is a list of some health science programs and the amount of education required. The Shippensburg University Biology Department also has articulation programs with several institutions giving Health Professions students the opportunity to peruse an accelerated course of study.

You can schedule an appointment to meet with Dr. Alison Fedrow or Dr. Marcie Lehman, Directors of Health Sciences in the Biology Department, to discuss your specific plans and educational opportunities.

Students complete 4 years of course work at Ship, and then 1 year at another institution. Programs include:

  • Medical Technology (Medical Laboratory Science)
  • Cytotechnology
  • Histotechnology
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Nursing (accelerated 2nd degree BSN)
  • Diagnostic Imaging (e.g., sonography, radiography)
  • Invasive Cardiovascular Technology

Students complete 4 years of course work at Ship, then 2 years at another institution. Most of these programs will require students to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) before applying:
