Communication/Journalism Facilities and Equipment

As part of the communication, journalism and media department, students in the broadcast media production concentration use industry standard production and field equipment for live and pre-recorded programs. Students will learn and perform in roles including talent, producer, director, camera and audio operator, videographer, editor, and graphics creation. Content can be streamed live or produced for distribution using various social media platforms including Facebook Live, Instagram and twitter.

Grove Hall Studio is a full HD Television Production Studio equipped with:

  • Ross XPression Character Generator and Graphics Creation System
  • JVC Professional Studio Cameras mounted on Sachtler Vario Studio Pedestals
  • Autoscript Teleprompters with Talent Monitors
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Suite including focused instruction using Premiere, Photoshop and Audition
  • PlaybackPro Video Playback System
  • Wireless Sennheiser Microphones, Clear Com Intercom and IFB Systems
  • ETC Software Controlled Studio Lighting System
  • Chroma Key (Green Screen Wall) and News Sets

Mobile Video Production Lab (Shippensburg University Television – SUTV) is a Remote Broadcast Vehicle equipped with:

  • Compix Graphics System
  • PlaybackPro Video Playback System
  • Blackmagic HDR Replay System
  • Remote Talent Broadcast Equipment

Other department equipment available includes JVC Professional HD Shoulder Mount Field Production cameras and DJI Osmo Gimbal Camera Kits.

MAC and PC Lab computers are updated regularly for the latest software or replaced as technology cycles continue to change. All labs are available to students for use to complete course requirements and professional project creation for submittal to future employers.
