Student Support
The most significant aspect of student support is academic support. Whether you are a first-year student at Ship, or are in your senior year, it's important to know that Ship has tools and staff available to help ensure your academic success.
Orientation
New students will complete components of the orientation program in two parts. These components will assist you in your transition to Ship while providing just-in-time information as you prepare to begin this Fall.
First Year Experience and Transfer Student Support
As part of the First Year Experience, students will take part in the First Year Seminar. This course is designed for first year students and focuses on communication, time management, writing, and study skills while also offering interactive learning and opportunities for experiences outside the classroom. Transfer Student Support is our one-stop-shop for navigating Ship's campus. During your first semester at Ship, you can set up a one-on-one consultation with a member of our team, attend transfer student events, or get connected with your academic advisor to navigate your degree plan.
Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR)
Various services and accommodations are offered depending on the individual student’s needs and the nature of the documented disability. Reasonable accommodations are defined as approved modifications which do not fundamentally alter the nature of the program/course, including academic requirements in post-secondary education. Students who receive accommodations at Shippensburg University must fulfill the requirements of the program/course. An accommodation cannot lower the standards or change the objective of the program/course.
The Learning Center
The Learning Center is the university's primary academic resource center and is free to all Ship students. It provides a variety of services, including course-based tutoring, writing tutoring, and Learning Specialists. The Learning Center can help you review course material, enhance your writing knowledge, and improve your study skills. Our tutors are well-trained peers and our specialists are professional staff who know how to help you succeed. Whether you feel you need extra help or just want to extend your learning in a social environment, The Learning Center can help.
Veteran Services
We know you are bringing a lot of meaningful life experiences with you, and values like teamwork, courage, discipline and service. We understand that you are likely facing many new challenges. You may be juggling work, family, health and financial issues while trying to approach your new education, and planning your future career. It’s a lot to handle at once, but we’re here to help. The Veterans Services Office and our admissions team are both ready to help you find your way to Ship as easily as possible.
Kathryn Hughes Seaber Raiders Academic Center for Student-Athletes
The Kathryn Hughes Seaber Raiders Academic Center for Student-Athletes (SeaberRAC), housed under the Division of Retention and Student Success and located inside Ezra Lehman Memorial Library, opened in the fall of 2019 to support the academic well-being of our nearly 500 student-athletes. The staff in the Seaber RAC focuses their efforts on helping student-athletes identify personalized goals that are within their aspirations and to help them surpass their expected potential.

Career Support
The Career Center provides student/alumni-centered career and professional development programs, experiences, and learning opportunities to assist students to develop and achieve personal and professional goals. Services offered include internships and experiential learning, on-campus employment and Professional Dress Closet.
Wellness
At Shippensburg University, you will always find someone in your corner. The Counseling and Wellness Resource Centers use the Wellness Wheel, a tool and visual guide to help you understand your overall well-being by identifying and integrating different aspects of wellness.This holistic approach to wellness involves a continuous and active process of developing an optimal state of well-being, in which you become aware of and makes choices towards a more whole-self lifestyle.
Etter Health Center
Etter Health Center is the primary health care resource for Shippensburg University students. In partnership with WellSpan Health, the center’s mission is to equip students to be successful in achieving and sustaining optimal health and to recognize their role in maintaining wellness of the campus and their greater community.
Counseling Center
The University Counseling Center (UCC) provides individual, couples and group counseling, crisis intervention and psychiatric services for undergraduate and graduate students. We also provide prevention and consultation services for the entire university community. Based on a commitment to student learning, and social, personal, and ethical development, our mission evolves from that of Shippensburg University.
Raider Wellness Resource Center
The Raider Wellness Resource Center is focused on providing resources, programming, and services centered in holistic wellness in collaboration with students, staff, and faculty.
Fitness at ShipRec
The Department of Recreation is committed to inspiring active and healthy lifestyles through quality recreational programming, services, and facilities. By providing diverse recreational opportunities outside of the classroom, the department promotes student success, engagement, leadership, and teamwork. The Department of Recreation has excellent facilities and provides opportunities throughout the year.

Housing
Housing is offered to incoming first-year and transfer students, returning undergraduate students, and graduate students. Shippensburg is proud to offer students the ability to request their own roommates and select their own rooms.

At Shippensburg University, we're ready to handle any special dietary requirements, including allergies, vegetarian/vegan, and gluten free options. We have 9+ diverse dining options that include Chick-fil-A, Dunkin’, and Starbucks.
ShipRec
Recreation at Ship includes Club Sports, Intramurals, Group Fitness, and Bike Share programs as well as access to the Recreation Center (ShipRec), Heiges Field House Pool, and the Student Recreation Complex (SRC): A fully lighted, 12-acre multipurpose recreational facility.
Athletics
Ship Athletics includes 20 Division II NCAA teams from Men's baseball, basketball, cross country, football, indoor track and field outdoor track and field, soccer, swimming and wrestling to Women's basketball, cross country, field hockey, indoor track and field, lacrosse, outdoor track and field, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.

Pride and Gender Equity Center
The PAGE Center embraces all university community members who support the well-being of gender-based violence survivors, LGBTQ students, women, LGBTQ men, and agender students. The Diane L.
